Young actor Suhas is back with another interesting concept for his next, Prasanna Vadanam. The movie was released in theaters today amidst a pleasing buzz. Let’s delve into our review to find out how the movie fares.

Story:

Surya (Suhas), a Radio Jockey, grapples with Prosopagnosia, also known as Face Blindness, which leaves him unable to recognize even the faces of his nearest and dearest. Only his friend Vignesh (Harsha Chemudu) and lover Aadhya (Payal Radhakrishna) are aware of his condition. One fateful night, he becomes the sole witness to a murder but fails to identify the culprit due to his condition. Seeking assistance, he turns to ACP Vaidehi (Rashi Singh), but circumstances take a twist against him. What unfolds next? Did the police manage to track down the culprit? Despite his condition, did Surya play a pivotal role in cracking the case? Unravel the mysteries by catching this intense tale in cinemas.

Plus Points:

Suhas, amidst his successful career, confidently takes on another compelling story, delivering a standout performance as a character grappling with Face Blindness.

Actress Rashi Singh’s bold decision to portray a negative role pays off, showcasing her versatility beyond conventional heroine roles.

Payal Radhakrishna and Harsha Chemudu deliver satisfactory performances, with Nitin Prasanna shining in his role. Other supporting actors also leave a mark with their performances.

The film delivers an unexpected interval twist and a couple of thrilling moments in the second half.

Minus Points:

Despite its intriguing premise, Prasanna Vadanam fails to sustain a gripping pace throughout, detracting from its overall impact. A more focused screenplay, particularly in the second half, would have significantly enhanced the film’s effectiveness.

Rashi Singh’s character arc could have been better developed, with some key scenes lacking depth and falling short of expectations.

The romantic subplot feels out of place in a movie aiming for a serious tone. The flashback sequences regarding the murder feel derivative of popular Telugu films.

Technical Aspects:

Debutant director Arjun YK shows promise, but a tighter focus on the screenplay, especially in maintaining a fast pace, is needed for improvement.

Vijay Bulganin’s score elevates key scenes, complemented by satisfactory cinematography by S Chandrasekaran and editing by Karthika Srinivas. The production values are decent, although a shorter runtime would have enhanced the viewing experience.

Verdict:

On the whole, Prasanna Vadanam offers an okay thriller experience, with Suhas delivering a decent performance and Rashi Singh impressing in her negative role. Certain twists are worth the ticket price, but pacing issues and unnecessary scenes may limit its appeal.
